Flyers add another blade to the Swiss Army knife
Today the Philadelphia Flyers signed free agent goaltender Sebastien Caron who, starting tonight, is eligible to play for Philly for the remainder of the regular season.
Whoa! Five whole games!?
The 29 year old Quebec native has spent the past three years playing in the Swiss National League, but has started in goal in seasons prior for NHL teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Anaheim Ducks. His record in the National Hockey League is 25-47-12, with a 3.45 GAA and .892 save percentage.
Someone get me something cold to drink because I need to cool down! This has gotten me all excited. Consider the next five games won!
Because Sebastien has been signed after the trade deadline, and regardless of if he plays or how well he plays the remainder of this regular season, he will not be eligible to dress in orange & black during the playoffs...
...that's if we get to the playoffs.
With lousy numbers like his, I can't react any other way except shake my head. If anything, all this is doing is bruising Brian Boucher's confidence, but that's like keying a vehicle after it's taken a flight off of the Pacific Coast Highway's edge.
