Things just got a little more comforable in Philly for Kris Versteeg.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren confirmed today that the Flyers have acquired defenseman Nick Boynton off of waivers from the Chicago Blackhawks.
The 32 year old from Nobleton, Ontario will join fellow former Blackhawk on the Flyers roster, likely as the 7th defenseman.
At 6'1", 218 pounds, Boynton is a physical depth defensemen--something the Flyers were looking for coming into Monday's trade deadline.
Boynton--the 21st overall draft pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft--has 1 goal and 7 assists in 41 games played with the Blackhawks this season.
With Boynton's $500,000 prorated salary on the books, the Flyers will be spending $8,014 over the daily limit. They can do so, however, by using their banked cap space from earlier in the season. Barring any roster changes, the Flyers will end the season with $68,686.
Welcome to the Flyers, Nick.
